"It is the contention of the Massachusetts Coalition of
Police that when the
standards of recruiting, training, integrity, police services, salaries,
benefits,
and working conditions have advanced to their proper level in our society,
then and only then, will our objective be realized."

Attorney General's Guide
to the Hometown Heroes Survivors' Benefits Act
The Massachusetts Coalition of Police, AFL-CIO, is a police labor union,
governed by working
police officers, on behalf of the membership. All Executive
Officers are active or retired police
officers elected by the membership at our
annual convention.
We enjoy a strong and healthy affiliation with a number of other fraternal and
labor organizations
on both a national and state level. Among these groups are
the International Union of Police
Associations, the National Association of
Police Organizations, the International AFL-CIO, and
the Massachusetts AFL-CIO.
In addition, we are members of all of the local labor councils
throughout
Massachusetts.
We were founded in 1979 for the purpose of organizing all police officers within
the
Commonwealth into one organized and unified group for the exclusive benefit
of its police
officer members. The organization is run by police officers for
the mutual aid, protection,
and enhancement of its members. The purpose of the
organization is to assist and maintain
the welfare of its members and to render
legislative, legal and other assistance, as necessary,
to its members.
We currently represent 2800 police officers and employees in 105 cities and
towns
throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. We utilize the services of
Sandulli Grace,
PC, a prestigious, well established law firm engaged only in the
practice of labor law and the
representation of employees in bargaining, negotiations, and disciplinary
actions.
